Hoy se han dado a conocer las primeras imágenes oficiales del nuevo equipo conformado por el español Carlos Sainz y el catari Nasser Al-Atiyah, dentro de la nueva estructura promovida por el catarí. Los patrocinadores de esta nueva aventura serán Red-Bull y Qatar, algo que ha posibilitado dar posibilidad a un proyecto que ya pudimos ver con los pasados Volkswagen Touareg, quiénes vierón ser al catarí y al español los más poderosos del raaly raid por excelencia, el Dakar.

La principal novedad de esta edición será la vuelta de Carlos Sainz. El madrileño volverá con un equipo completamente nuevo, el Qatar Red Bull Rally Team. Tanto él, como su compañero de equipo Nasser Al-Attiyah conducirán un buggy de nuevo diseño especialmente creado para el rally. “Lo que me ha convencido del potencial de este proyecto, en general, y del buggy, en particular, es su comportamiento en las zonas rotas y pedregosas en las que hemos entrenado. Todavía debemos hacer más, porque el Rally Dakar no solo se disputa sobre suelo roto con baches, sino que es mucho más desafiante y complicado que eso. Para el Rally Dakar se necesita un coche que vaya bien tanto en dunas como en carretera”, cuenta Carlos.
Por su parte el catari Nasser Al-Attiyah comentaba “Estoy muy contento ya que hemos conseguido presentar oficialmente el nuevo Qatar Red Bull Rally Team. Es un momento muy emocionante para todos nosotros y hemos puesto todo nuestro empeño en tener el nuevo buggy listo para el 5 de Enero“.

En el asiento del copiloto de Al-Attiyah y Sainz estarán dos navegadores con experiencia, quienes, además, ya han ganado el Rally Dakar. El compañero en el desierto de Nasser será Lucas Cruz, mientras que Timo Gottschalk dará las indicaciones a Carlos. En un interesante cruce de caminos, Lucas fue el navegador de Sainz en ruta hacia la victoria de 2010 del combinado español, mientras que Timo fue quien ayudó a Nasser. Ahora, los copilotos han cambiado de asientos de cara al Rally Dakar de 2013.

La asistencia correrá a cargo de la estructura española Epsilon Team, quienes serán los encargados de la logística de este impresionante equipo que saldrá a conseguir la victoria en este 2013.
